An Up-Close History Lesson
During your self-guided visit, you may meet our History Hosts in spots such as our Depot’s Section House, in the General Store, inside our Schoolhouse or at our Farmstead.
Using a grade specific History Hunt (based on the idea of a scavenger hunt) students will become actively engaged in history by hearing, seeing, touching and even smelling nineteenth century life; all the while answering questions that will stimulate conversations among the students.
From September to November, and February to May, teachers may choose from five different themed History Hunts; each Hunt focuses on Social Studies and another thematic curricular area. For fuller descriptions of our programs, please see Standard Field Trips and Special Programs.
