Teens Telegraphing

How did kids know what the weekend plans were? What did they do to let friends know what was happening? Today, everything and everyone is connected, and within seconds of something happening, texts and photos are being sent across town and the country. How did people communicate long ago? Learn how we kept in touch when we were restricted by technology, etiquette, and social rules.

Home Arts of the Pioneers

Pioneers knew how to spin, weave and sew along with the many other chores needed just to survive. With all the labor required every day just to persevere, why would they take the extra time to learn the additional skills and techniques to decorate basic everyday objects? We’ll go back in time and try to understand the creative heart of the pioneers.

Pioneer Pets

Could your pet make it in the Old West? How do you pet a chicken? Can you envision your pampered lap cat with the job title of “Rat Killer”? Just like the pioneer children, the animals had chores too! During your workshop, learn a lesson in Donkey Care 101, what Fluffy would have to do to earn her keep and more.
