Bring Your Troop and Discover the Past at Dallas Heritage Village

Visit Dallas Heritage Village with your troop and experience history. We believe in living history, and as a part of that mission, we offer a variety of hands-on programs for Girl Scouts of all ages. Choose from our badge workshops days or self-guided tour programs.  

 

Financial Literacy Badge Day

Stay tuned for our next Financial Literacy Day

Join us at the village for a day of high finance on Main Street. Step up to the teller’s window in Citizen’s Bank to learn about Budgets & Business and Shopping & Saving by becoming a bank teller or pitching your new business idea. Stop by the Depot and figure out the best mode of transportation back and forth to your job as well as the how to spend your “vacation” time. Learn about women business owners, both big and small, when you stop by the Hotel and Shotgun House. Spend some time in the General Store working as a shopkeeper, or going shopping, and at the Alamo Saloon as Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes consider the cost of having fun while completing steps to earn their Girl Scout Financial Literacy 1 badge/leaf. Badges are included in the price.

Manners & Etiquette

Saturday, March 10th, 2018, 11:00am - 1:00pm

Price:$15/scout, $5/adult, $5/siblings (we ask to have at least 1 adult for every 5 scouts in attendance)

Must be pre-registered by March 3rd.Tickets are non-refundable. Registration will begin January 1st.

Join us for a day of high society in the Victorian Era. Daisies will earn their Gloria Petal, Brownies will earn their Making Friends Badge and Juniors will earn their Social Butterfly badge. They will partake in activities throughout the village and end the day with their own tea party. It will be a day of fun with a historic twist!

A World of Girls

Saturday, April 14th, 2018, 10:30am - 2:30pm

Price:$15/scout, $5/adult, $5/siblings (we ask to have at least 1 adult for every 5 scouts in attendance)

Must be pre-registered by April 7th. Tickets are non-refundable. Registration will begin January 1st.

Join us today to complete this Journey for Brownies. You will learn from the past about different ways that groups of people have told stories over time. This will include games, quilts, paintings, and more. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in the story that we call history.

Price: $8/scout, $5/adult, $5/siblings (we ask to have at least 1 adult for every 5 scouts in attendance).
Tours must be booked a week in advanced so materials can be supplied.

Brownies: Celebrating Community Badge

Available only September 1st through December 30th, 2017

In conjunction with our special collaborative exhibit, Neighborhoods We Called Home, Brownies can complete the steps to earn their Celebrating Community Badges. This exhibit focuses on our Shotgun House, Section House, and Blum house and is a partnership with The Dallas Mexican American Historic League, Remembering Black Dallas, and the Dallas Jewish Historical Society. Each organization will be telling the history and story of these groups in Dallas and the neighborhoods they lived in. This tour is self-guided, however all materials and information are provided when you check in.

History Museum Explorers Patch

Ever wonder what life was like for girls in the late 1800s? This patch encourages scouts of all levels to tour the museum and investigate the daily life of pioneer and Victorian girls. The tour will lead you through multiple buildings and includes the instructions and supplies for various hands-on activities. This tour is self-guided, however all materials and information are provided when you check in.

History Mystery Patch

History is full of mysteries and some of them even hide in the houses at the Village. Follow the QR codes to watch videos with clues. Solve the mysteries and earn your patch!

Badge workshop days are rain or shine.
